Frequently asked questions

Everything about how SelectBeef sources, ships, and stands behind every cut.

Delivery & shipping

How is SelectBeef shipped?

Every order ships flash-frozen in an insulated cold-chain box with food-safe gel bricks, so your beef arrives still frozen. Boxes go out on Tuesdays so they never sit in a carrier hub over the weekend, and transit is capped at two business days (2-Day or Overnight) to keep the cold chain intact.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated per ranch at checkout based on the destination and box weight. Standard 2-Day cold-chain shipping is free on orders over $150 from a single ranch; otherwise carrier rates apply. Local ranch pickup is free where offered.

Which carriers do you use?

SelectBeef ships with FedEx 2-Day and Overnight services. A tracking number is emailed when your box ships, and you can follow it to the door.

What if my order arrives thawed?

Cold-chain packaging keeps beef frozen for the full transit window. If anything arrives above temperature, reply to your confirmation email within 24 hours and we will make it right.

Sourcing & practices

Where does SelectBeef come from?

Every cut is sold directly by an independent, vetted American ranch. The farm name, location, breed, and raising practices travel with each product from cart to kitchen — you always know exactly who raised your beef.

How are ranchers vetted?

Ranchers apply to join and are reviewed for their sourcing, feed, and handling practices before any cut goes live. Verified suppliers carry a Select Verified badge on their storefront.

What do grass-fed and grass-finished mean here?

Grass-fed cattle eat forage their whole lives; grass-finished means they were never grain-finished before harvest. Each ranch lists its exact practices — grass-fed, grass-finished, grain-finished, pasture-raised, regenerative, dry-aged, hormone-free, or antibiotic-free — on every product.

Is the beef hormone- and antibiotic-free?

Many ranches raise cattle without added hormones or antibiotics and label it as such. Because practices vary by ranch, the specific claims for each cut are shown right on the product page.

Orders & subscriptions

Can I order from multiple ranches at once?

Yes. Mix cuts from any ranches into one cart and check out once. Each ranch ships its own cold-chain box, so a multi-ranch order arrives as multiple boxes — one per ranch.

Is there an order minimum?

Each ranch portion of your cart needs at least 8 units so the cold-chain box carries enough thermal mass to stay frozen in transit. The cart shows your progress toward the minimum for each ranch.

Do you offer subscriptions?

Recurring beef boxes are coming soon. When available, you will be able to choose a delivery cadence on the product page and manage, skip, or pause deliveries from your account.

Returning customers

How do I track or reorder?

Your confirmation and shipping emails include your order number and tracking link. Reordering a favorite cut is as simple as visiting the ranch storefront or product page and adding it to the cart again.

How should I store and cook my beef?

Keep cuts frozen until ready to use, then thaw in the refrigerator. Each product page includes cooking instructions and a rancher recipe tailored to that cut.
